It's been a while since I've posted. So, here's an overdue update.
Pregnancy is winding down, or so I think. Just 7 weeks left but it feels like an eternity. Does it ever get easier with subsequent pregnancies? I've talked to friends before that say they thoroughly enjoy pregnancy. Using such phrases as "never felt better" and "the happy hormone".
Good for them.
I've come to the conclusion that they're either seriously high or LYING.
Paul and I went to Las Vegas over the weekend to visit my sister and her family. It was a quick trip but a lot of fun. I coaxed them all into taking a late-night trip to the hospital where my brother-in-law works, and we were able to get a quick ultrasound in before the weekend was over (I'm addicted). It wasn't the BEST picture, but we were able to see him regardless. I mean, I KNOW he's there (confirmed by his vigorous punching and kicking of my innards day and night), but it was so comforting to see his little heart beating and his chubby little cheeks. We also confirmed for the second time that we've got a thumb-sucker. Takes after his mom in that department. I was a dedicated thumb-sucker right up until the ripe age of 5, when my mom successfully bribed me with Donny and Marie Osmond Barbie dolls if I'd stop.
I went cold turkey. And straight to K-Mart.
A few years later I paid for the thumb-sucking habit by having to wear an eternal retainer to correct the buckteeth I'd developed. My sisters affectionately called me "Bucky Beaver." I'm not entirely sure they understood the true definition of "affectionately." I'm still getting over that one.
I've recently taken up quilting (and am currently taking a class), which has been a really fun adventure. Ever since Paul and I started dating, he's been encouraging me to find "my thing". You know, he's got his music in all it's various incarnations and I've got, well, I've got things I LIKE to do, but have never been avidly dedicated to any of them. I think quilting might be it. At least for the next while, anyway. I love everything about it. The creativity, the beautiful fabrics and textiles, the colors and endless possibilities, even the sewing and pressing. I get into a zone and the time flies by. Which has also been helpful during my more and more frequent sleepless nights. I'm just about finished with my first living room throw and have already started on a baby quilt for the little bruiser in my belly. I have some fun ideas for a bedroom throw after that. But it doesn't just stop with quilting. This fabric thing has opened my mind to all sorts of fun decorating ideas and inspirations. Especially now that I'm addicted to other people's blogs about sewing and quilting. Who knew... blogging, quilting... what's next for me??
I'll take some photos of some of the things I'm working on, to add some fun color to this otherwise drab blog page.
Until then.
