Folk-Rock The Vote

Remember this post?

Well, the City Weekly Music Awards have come around again. And, loyal friends and readers of this undernourished blog, The Madison Arm could use your vote again. If we win, we'll get some money that could help fund our upcoming EP and/or keep the band together, as well as play at The Depot with The Helio Sequence. This year, you (yes, out-of-staters and out-of-countryers, you too) can vote once in each of these 3 ways (for a total of, yes, THREE votes):
  1. TEXT. Simply text the keyword PAUL to 91010. So easy a monkey could do it. A monkey could also use his friends'/kids'/coworkers' phones to do it (wink, wink. nudge, nudge.)
  2. ONLINE at the City Weekly website. There's a little logging-in to be done, but you can opt out of receiving spam. And opt in to the blessings of doing your friend Paul a solid. Did I just say that? I suppose I did.
  3. Come to our CWMA Showcase with our friends Atherton, Desert Noises, & David Williams @ Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo this Friday February 5 (8pm).
I should note, too, that a lot of my friends and bands we've played with are nominated: Atherton, Libbie Linton, The Devil Whale, Tolchock Trio, Michael Gross & The Statuettes. Any of them would be great choices and deserving of your ears.

Thanks in advance for whatever you decide to do.

March Mad(ison Arm)ness

I know, I know. You're thinking, "Why is Paul always pushing his dumb band on us? Doesn't he know we only come here for baby pictures and crafty contests?" If you are indeed thinking that, then you should know that I'm thinking, "Holly, do we have to hang out with them again?"

The rest of you rule. Here are three upcoming shows for your highnesses.

:: SHOW THE 1ST ::

THE MADISON ARM + FICTIONIST
Friday March 6 (doors @ 8)
Velour Live Music Gallery (135 N. University Ave in Provo)
$7
Now, I'm only going to say this once: Fictionist rock. Amazing live band with great, great songs. Their drummer Aaron singlehandedly rescued my song "Fearless Johnny Tapias" from the Pile of Discarded Songs From Whence None Return.

:: SHOW THE 2ND ::
THE MADISON ARM
Monday March 16 (7:30 sharp)
Slowtrain Records (221 E Broadway in downtown SLC)
FREE
Slowtrain has a weekly concert series, every Monday featuring a different local act. This is our week. Come see the band in an intimate show and get some of Chris & Anna’s patented great recommendations. If the free-ness doesn't do it for you, the location and brevity (just us) should.

:: SHOW THE 2ND ::
THE MADISON ARM + LIBBIE LINTON + FICTIONIST

Friday April 10 (7pm)
The Post Theater (245 S Fort Douglas Blvd in SLC)
Anyone who's ever come to a show at The Post knows how much we love to play there. And why. Come see us with old friend Libbie Linton as we open for new friends Fictionist.

Honestly, all of these shows will be great. I can't really recommend any one over the others. So come to one or two or all three.

See you there?
