It takes a bit of self-discipline to keep my sarcastic and/or facetious side in check:
"Yeah. For Leonardo. Titanic had a pretty serious impact on Holly."
"Yes. For Leopold. We were hoping some playground beatings would help him have that requisite 'chip on the shoulder' that drives so many to success."
"Yep. He's short for an adult."
You get the idea.
What I didn't know is that Leo really is short for something.
OBLIO
That's the name of the main character from one of my all-time favorite cartoons, The Point. Scored by the incomparable Harry Nilsson and, if you get the right version, narrated by either Harry or none other than Ringo Starr. (Run, friends, run from any version that's narrated by Alan Thicke. That's just wrong.) It's a hippie-era trip through conformity, conservatism, bureaucracy, individuality, and a Pointless Forest with dancing ladies, talking rocks, and a bunch of other psychedelic sideshows. I know: my description doesn't exactly have you racing to Netflicks. The soundtrack alone- with classics like Me & My Arrow and Think About Your Troubles- is worth the price of admission. I sing Poli High and Everyone's Got One to Leo every now and then.
To the point, no pun intended.
Holly was babysitting our nephew Cameron and turned on The Point (which she, inexplicably and- on my part- indefensibly, had never seen). And there he was. The same round head. Even the same little grin sometimes.

I've never seen it. Now I must. Just wondering, why don't you spell it Lio? And here I thought you were carrying on a family name...
And admit it, Titanic had an impact on you, not Holly. I've heard you break out in tears singing,
"Near, far, wherEVER you are..."
Have you ever watched this with Adam? He LOVES it. Bought it. And now Smith LOVES it too. :)
I just listened to your new album for the first time...it's awesome! I love it.
Anne, keep Celine and her terrible Anne Geddes babies off of my blog.
Whitley, whenever I listen to Think About Your Troubles, I think of Adam. He had a real Rom-esque way of emphasizing the "THINK ABOUT YOUR TROUBLES...NOOOOOOW" part. We always wanted to cover it.
Truly one of the weirdest shows Scott has ever made me watch....but the songs are catchy!
Holly? Paul? Where are you guys? I want to see Leo's first Christmas.
