Meet Me By The River

We spent a weekend up at the Ranch with my parents, Andy, and his dogs. It was super relaxing and so great to spend time with Mom and Dad, who'd been Manchestering for the last 3 years. This was Stop 1 on their whirlwind See The Family 08 Tour.

Leo and Grandma spend some quality time on the porch. Grandma was nice enough to watch Leo while Holly and I kayaked down the river (not pictured).

Leo brought his Ranch A-Game with some Wyoming-worthy overalls (Thanks, Lauren) and Uncle Andy's cowboy hat. We combed Baby Gap for some Infant Boots+Spurs, but to no avail.

Holly tries to convince Leo that tummy time is actually fun. Mom, Dad, and Andy were all very patient to indulge our New Parent Need To Show Off How Amazing It Is When Our Child Rolls Over. There might have even been a cheer.

Andy and Dad spent a lot of Friday and Saturday re-enacting the pre-drama scenes of A River Runs Through It on the Bear River. You can bet Dad was stoked to have some time to burn on the river after 3 years of trying to get missionaries to behave. Holly and I, not so much the anglers, walked along the river and called it good.

We also took the little paddleboat out on the pond. Why I ever post pictures of myself is a riddle for the ages. That much raging photogenicism should be kept to oneself.

Deer were everywhere. In the words of Mitch Hedberg, "cutest infestation ever."

The Vulcan Death Swaddle. Leo is helpless to resist.

A lousy attempt to be a good photographer. Why I ever travel without staff photographers Mark, Ryan, Janine, Laura, or Rachel is beyond me. (Now, don't get mad that your name wasn't in that sentence. You're very, very talented. Really. You are.)

We played a lot of games, something I'm beginning to think might be a Jacobsen Thing. Who knew we were into games? I believe the scorecard reads as follows:

QUIDDLER
Paul 3
Charlotte 1
Ted 1
Everyone Else 0

FARKEL
Holly 1
Everyone Else 0

P-I-G
Paul 2
Andy 1
Ted 0

FRISBEE GOLF
Andy 2
Ted 1
Paul 0

NAPS
Leo 8
Holly & Paul 2
Everyone Else 1

Oh that Leo! What a charmer! And when did Holly have a baby...she's already a stick again! Good work.

Good times on the ranch, too bad you couldn't find boots and spurs for Leo. Cute kid. Samantha can roll over as well, and we're the overly excited parents that make everyone watch too! Being a parent rocks.

Can you please dress Leo a la Huckleberry Finn next time I see him? It's awesome.

I am really good at the nap game. I might even beat Leo in a given week. Yep, I definitely think playing games is a Jacobsen thing.
