I don't know that we'll get around to the play-by-play of the day he was born anytime soon. But here is Leo Bowers Jacobsen's still-life highlight reel for week one.
Leo gets burped a lot. I keep telling him to straighten up his posture, that someday he'll regret his lazy slouching, that he needs a haircut, but his listening comprehension leaves a bit to be desired. As you can see from the socks in this picture, Leo was born with a unique mutation: feet for hands. While it will probably do wonders for his crawling, there may be a bit of grief in grade school. [Sadly, the truth is quite the opposite: he very unfortunately inherited my finger toes. Sorry, kid.]

Little-known fact: before you can sell your child to the circus, they require photographic proof that he/she can pull off the costumery. Ringling Brothers, you know where you can reach us. We hope he meets a sweet, bearded lady when he grows up.

The little man sleeps plenty, relatively speaking. You probably deduced as much. When awake though [not pictured], he's actually quite alert.

This was in the waiting room for his 1-week checkup. We were very relieved to find that he's doing super well. Having Leo has amplified a lot of our strengths and weaknesses, not the least of which is our uncanny knack for worrying. [Carseat pictured above courtesy of a very caring ward shower.]

And the obligatory hospital picture of the swollen, red alien and his baby-lagged parents.

I've been waiting for some new pictures. I can't get over that face!!! He is so cute.
I love Leo and the week of pictures! In my hours of waiting for baby to come that feel like years I am relishing that you actually have achieved what seems like impossible now: Birth of Baby!
congrats!!! what a cute little family!!
Leo is adorable. Congrats to you all again & hope the adjustment to parenthood is an easy one. ( :
John is dying here over that little face. I'm cool, though. I'm not affected by tiny baby faces, little baby hats, too-big-for-now baby furniture... oh, I'm a big liar. I'm dying, too, because Leo is so darling! Congrats, again!
congrats! we are happy for the new addition to the Jacobsen family! He is darling and I can see already that he has captured your hearts!
He is soooo cute!! I love the name too! Congrats you two!! We have the same car seat for Lucy, and we love it!! Have fun, and enjoy him, they grow up way too FAST!! -Ben and Summer
Hey! Cute baby! We feel for you. If you ever need someone to talk to at 3:30 in the morning, while you are feeding baby and he decides it's play time, know that we are here, doing the exact same thing!

cute kid you two. he is really cute. funny how parenting brings out a whole new side of your personality that was maybe a little more reserved before. i can tell you that from this point on you can count on worrying a lot.. and never stopping. but is always a sweet thing to have someone to worry about. :) congrats guys.
it's matt and heather. Leo is perfect!!! Congratulations!!!
just adorable!!
He is so GREAT! Thanks for the photos! I love seeing him! I think it is going to kill us all to have to wait for our July/SLC trip to meet him. We love you three!
The warmest congratulations to both of you. That's about as good as I've ever seen a brand-new mother look in the hospital.
Congratulations guys. Long time no see - glad to see that things are going well.
Holly & Paul, Leo is DARLING!
Thanks for the invite to the blog.
I must know where you go that gown. I can't the hospital sheets that are in all the new baby-parent pictures.
I refuse to be part of the club on that one.
